Our Commitment

Expat Health Insurance is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level and continually improve the user experience for everyone.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features across our website:

Keyboard Navigation

• All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard
• A visible focus indicator is displayed on all focusable elements
• A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page
• Logical tab order follows the visual layout of the page
• Dropdown menus and modals can be navigated and dismissed using the keyboard

Screen Reader Support

• Semantic HTML elements are used throughout (headings, landmarks, lists, etc.)
• All images include descriptive alt text or are marked as decorative
• ARIA labels are provided where standard HTML semantics are insufficient
• Form fields have associated labels
• Dynamic content changes are communicated to screen readers
• SVG illustrations are marked with aria-hidden for screen readers

Text Resize

• A text size toggle (A- / A / A+ / A++) is available in the site header, allowing users to increase or decrease text size
• Text size preferences are saved in localStorage and persist between visits
• The layout adapts responsively to larger text sizes without horizontal scrolling
• Browser zoom up to 200% is fully supported

Color Contrast

• Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
• Dark mode is available for users who prefer reduced brightness or have light sensitivity
• Information is not conveyed by color alone; icons, text labels, and patterns are used as additional indicators

Reduced Motion

• All animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query
• Users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion will see static versions of animated content
• No content flashes more than three times per second

Additional Features

• Responsive design works across all screen sizes and orientations
• Touch targets are at least 44x44 pixels on mobile devices
• Error messages in forms are descriptive and linked to the relevant field
• Page titles are descriptive and unique
• Links have descriptive text that makes sense out of context
• Tables are properly structured with headers where applicable

Standards Compliance

This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. While we strive for full compliance, there may be some areas where we are still working to improve. We regularly audit our site and address any accessibility issues discovered.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:

• Some third-party content (e.g., embedded analytics scripts) may not be fully accessible, though these do not affect core functionality
• PDF documents generated by our system may have limited accessibility features; equivalent information is available on our web pages
